Los Angeles Blog: LA Snark: CBS radios KLSX drops Adam Corolla and Tom Leykis

  • Rick · 9 months ago
Idem on Kevin and Bean...they are the only product of Radio I listen to...Thank God for the iPod!
  • Matthew · 9 months ago
Leykis presented thought in a good manner. It was not for anyone, but hey neither is wine tasting or reading a news paper. Tom is blut but always maintained class. If it offended someone by talking about how a majority of women are but hey thats life and thats how women are.
  • Ricky · 9 months ago
Meh he's a douche. I saw him on Jimmy Kimmel's show once and all he could do was talk about his money, and big house. Good riddance.
  • Ted Newkirk · 9 months ago
Given that Leykis has a contract that pays him through 2012 and given that he was no longer in drive time in Seattle as it is, a Seattle gig is highly unlikely.

Maybe 7 years ago when he was red-hot in Seattle and was actually thinking of getting a condo up there. But he's since spent huge amounts of money upgrading his Hollywood house and also buying a place in Santa Barbara wine country. He's also wealthy enough to retire many times over.

For Leykis, I'm guessing that it is something in L.A. or nothing.
  • hXc · 9 months ago
Leykis was at his funniest when trashing the east coast (New York and Boston- no mercy).
He was one of the only radio personalities that told the truth about what his job was:
To get the most people to listen and call as possible!
His financial talk of late was rather sobering as well~
  • doodie · 9 months ago
It was inevitable. You'd have to have been living in a cave to have not seen this coming in the form of fewer commercials - bad sign.

His shtick is out of place now that America is reassessing itself so he'll have to take his sack 'o fat and try and get hired elsewhere or he will lose his houses.

I was listening to him on a video and his real voice is pitched higher so I guess it was enhanced when broadcast out of the studio. It was quite a sight seeing this ball o' fat who didn't know how to speak to his adoring fans who were about six males following him in the street. Say, where were all those "chicks" in the picture? Not saying anything mind you but he did not look like chick meat to me .....
  • Benjaminz · 9 months ago
As Tom always says, you can have a face that was made for radio and still get hot chicks if you're dragging a big sack of cash. The color of 'Chick Meat' is green.
  • doodie · 9 months ago
Hey, Ben, You missed my point. I will repeat what I said and be more pointed this time. Apparently, I was being too subtle.

In the video of him walking in the street and he can hardly walk, he's so fat and is inthe shape of a ball, not a human being. His ONLY adoring fans were MEN. Do you get it now? There were no chicks in sight. Since he claims to be a magnet because of his wealth, where the hell were the women? All who were yelling out to him and following him were just a group of pathetic men one of whom called out lamely, "take me out with...." There's no woman would go to bed with him. You may have seen pictures of him but they were when he was 100 lbs. lighter and he was way overweight then. Even cayeesh wouldn't make him look attractive. Gold diggers have their pride, too.
  • Matt · 9 months ago
How the hell are you the first thing that pops up on Google? " I think he's a douche." NIce. and here's thought, buy stock in Sirus, because what is it, a nickel. I think Leykis may come on board, and there are some things they could do to change it. If they would have just signed off after Stern, a lot more people would have paid for it I believe, but they had a pretty damn good consolation.

I personally would rather listen to Leykis talk about the woman reaching their expiration date, and how why he date an old high school flame if he can afford their daughter, and other favorites, opposed to paying to hear high pitch Eric eat fast food for a couple of days, and then poop in a bucket and weigh it. The show was all over the board, and ALL talk radio gets monotonous at one point, that's why you have music and books on cd and lotion in the car. Do something else for a while if you are in the car a lot. But if Sirius had Leykis and Stern and give Denis Leary a show and a few million and you had an option to listen to archives as well as live, I'd buy that the day it came out, or they joined.

KEvin and Bean, I think, are on that channel that I turn as fast as I hear their voices, as I do when they play Alice in Chains and deep tracks off the first Bush album.

Say what you will about Tom, but he'll have more money than I'll ever have. He deserves all of it! Gives out great advice to guys, although most dumb assess fail to listen.

    You will be missed Tom.
  • Big Boy · 9 months ago
Yo! This dude is a funny cat. Even a seasoned DJ like me has much love for my Man Tom!
  • Juan · 9 months ago
God Bless Tom! He has done great by the hispanic community and will be missed.
  • 2-timer · 9 months ago
I love how peeps call him saying. Hello Dad, I have a problem to which he'll reply, Yes Son, and then give the funniest fuking answers. You rock Tom.
  • Sad Man · 9 months ago
The end of an era! Although Tom has been around long enough that I am sure he'll bounce back just fine. i just pray it's on the LA airwaves, or at least nationally syndicated.
  • Yankee Lover · 9 months ago
With Conan leaving the NYC late night airwaves, they ought to bring Tom Leykis over to the Best Coast. You are missed over here Tom. I need those FLASH fridays back like the old days!
  • SausageMan · 9 months ago
Radio is dead. There's nothing more to be said. Radio is now just a crusty towel there to support the extra drool that falls out of the Internet's mouth. It has no spirit any longer--at least in Los Angeles.
  • doodie · 9 months ago
I agree with you Sausage Man, though we need good entertainment and news for drive times, there are more efficient ways to get the same things. Radio has become obsolescent like newspapers and magazines as we can get the same news and information right off the internet the second it's happening and without being annoyed by commercials.

Tom will have to find another way to acquire a replacement "seven figure salary" and I can just see it now, he and Howard Stern bumping into each other looking for work!
  • peabody3000 · 9 months ago
kevin and bean arent as bad as mark and brian, but theyre still kind of the carrot-tops of the radio world with their predictable and tired comedy stylings
  • doodie · 9 months ago
    peabody,

that was a good description of radio "comedy stylings" when you used the denigrating "carrot-tops of the radio world".

Radio as a medium had so much promise to pass time away for people who are alone either driving, or at home or doing some repetitive task that radio OUGHT to relieve.

Instead of radio becoming better to compete with all the handhelds, laptops and desk computers, it appears to be dying by throwing crap at us.
All the good entertainment comes either online or on the TV but there's nothing portable one can take along that equals radio. Why don't the owners of radio stations see that they have to improve or die?
  • Rich · 9 months ago
Leykis is misogynistic, which is not to say that he isn't right about a lot (not all) of the things he says - particularly about how marriage, divorce, and the legal system is biased against men. However, Glenn Sacks ( http://www.glennsacks.com ) does a far better and more complete job of that.

And yes, Leykis' program did get real old real fast.

What I strongly dislike is the gratuitous left/liberal anti-white racism in this article, speaking of Leykis' "white trash" fans. He has loads of hispanic, black, and asian listeners as you can tell from the callers as well as the ratings.
  • Jesse James · 9 months ago
Ricjy and Chad ,, you two are the douche and the vagina. Old too. 3 week old douche and 79 yr old vaganina.
Tom is the bomb. Look at the ratings and get your edumacation!
  • Lola · 9 months ago
Good riddance to Tom Leykis. His played out old women are stupid white guys talk smack is so last century. I actually listened a few times during the week because I liked hearing the stupid men who called him for advice in their sad little lives before they went home to live with their mothers and mow the lawn for their allowances. He was pathetic - never let any smart women on and I am glad he took pathetic Adam "I hate immigrants" Carolla with him. Move over old dudes... it's a new century and your ignorant, complaining and whining is just old news. Just like the action you supposedly get... its no where to be found anymore.
  • doodie · 9 months ago
Lola, you said it. If you've seen the video of him walking in the street with about half-a-dozen guys trailing after him and calling his name and you heard his voice, you would see that the show was all fluff.

He must have used a voice changer because in real life (when he's not in a studio) he's got a thin, upper range voice and as to looks, even a street hooker with ALL the STDS wouldn't take him on as a john.

He's built like a butterball turkey and must weigh a good 300 lbs yet he is no more than 5'.0" tall with what looks like a bib made out of flesh is his bulbous, huge chin. His resume says he's 5'.11" and I've even heard him say that to a woman who called in and asked.

He had lots to say about lots of women but I'd like to hear the real story from his four ex-wives. First he complained about American women, then, after praising Latinas, he had one move in to fold his socks and when she smartened up and realized what all us American women could have told her for nothing and she moved out, he stopped praising South American women.

Let's face it, no women of any country want poor old, short, fat Tom.
  • Ted Newkirk · 9 months ago
    Doodie,

Almost all radio personalities use expensive mics and special EQ to make their voice sound more rich on the air. Same with voice-over guys. Compare that to the sound captured by a hand-held camcorder with a lousy mic and that explains your difference.

Look... I don't care if Leykis is gay or straight, rich or poor, whether he bangs 2 chicks a day or two chicks a year. His advice works. In both business and with women.

You can hate on the guy until you are blue in the face (and yes, he really is about 5'11" but certainly portly). But assuming that his weight would stop him from having the interest if attractive women is just plain crazy. Since the dawn of time, hot women have been attracted to successful, confident men regardless of the guys looks or weight.

Of course, if you were a confident, successful male, you'd already know that.

I doubt Leykis will be looking for work anytime soon. He makes an estimated $2.3 million a year on his contract with runs through March of 2012 and pays him whether they have him work or not. Add that to the years he's spent saving and investing and he's more than set for life.

Look... if you dislike the content of the Leykis show, so be it. But suggesting that overweight radio hosts (whether they be a Leykis, Limbaugh, or Bubba The Love Sponge) can't get attractive women is ludicrous.
  • EDGE-SKEET · 9 months ago
To all you up in Leykis's ass, one of the reasons the station changed format was due to Leykis's inability to accept a pay cut screwing every one at the station who was willing to take the same pay cut. So to all u tom supporters, ya TOm had many valid points but he still is the biggest douche.

P.S. Frosty, Heidi And frank one of the biggest loss's to mid-shift radio, and radio in general I would argue eaven bigger than that other funny douche howard stern.
  • guaza · 9 months ago
I moved to L.A. about 10 years ago and for years couldn’t figure out what the deal with women out here was until I came across Leykis 101. I didn’t always agree with everything but he did speak the truth about a lot of things, especially how to get laid without going broke. Yes, the majority of women in Los Angeles are money-grubbing whores and marriage is the biggest mistake anyone could ever make. Anyways, to make a long story short I tried some of his techniques and I can honestly say it works. He helped lot’s of guys from making huge financial mistakes by warning them about vaginamony and not falling for women with children. I’m glad I had the opportunity to hear him and feel sorry for those who didn’t and will learn the hard way. Tom, you will be missed and I hope you come back soon…
  • Gary Schein · 9 months ago
Tom Leykis has been a cancer on society. He is an insensitive person without any moral compass beyond making money and having sex. For years, he ridiculed anybody who made a low salary, no matter how important their role in society. He crapped on everybody from nurses to construction workers, solely on the basis of their earning power (or lack thereof). He endorsed mainstream definitions of "beauty" as defined by the advertisers who control Big Media, and although fatter than an elephant, he loved to abuse anybody he considered to be obese.....all part of his rather pathetic self-hate syndrome. He taught men how to lie and cheat and delighted in their tales of deception, although in a typical double standard, he would excoriate anybody he felt had duped him in any regard.

Now, if there is any Karma in the Universe, he soon will learn just how little demand exists for a deceitful, hate-filled radio babbler in a society that is so very lacking in the people who perform all the REAL work (everything from building roads to treating sewage). Those are the people who should be getting proper remuneration in our society, not some worthless paper pusher on Wall Street or some useless misogynist radio jock.

I am all in favor of men learning how to deal with women, but NOT for treating them like dirtbags. Leykis spewed hate and venom to young generations who desparately NEED to learn tolerance, patience, and appreciation, given that they are so lacking in those particular character traits.

    3/5/09 Leykis

Gary Schein, #28, is proof that normal human beings have aspirations that are not about using each other, something that bulbous, old, hideous (using his word) Tom never learned. Tom's message was that there are women who are as shallow and men should use them as the women are using them.

Presenting yourself as a soured, bitter, horny toad misrepresenting yourself to acquire sex is pathetic and that's how you would come across, not the way Tom made it sound you would.

There's a mating dance for each species which Tom thought you could bypass and his solution for a lot of unsuccessful-with-women was to act out his middle-aged, bitter attitude which was the whole basis of Tom's message and women would be able to see through that immediately.

What he did say that was important and applies to women equally, is get educated, with a career under your belt before you tie yourself down with anyone.

If you don't care about how you treat another human being, you won't be cared about; it's that simple. Tom's end of life, which he is approaching, is to be alone leaving behind "instructions" to a lot of men who are lost souls how to get further lost.

Tricking someone into having sex eventuates in what? the word getting out and men and women getting even farther apart and more embittered? What kind of legacy is this to hand on to his "sons"? His "seven-figure income" is where, now? Bwahahaha!

Tom's message was a fantasy. He's ended up with no salary to keep up his two homes and nobody to give a damn. What he never told these men calling in was that women are not responsible for giving them sex and women know this. Bwahahaha!
  • Ted Newkirk · 9 months ago
Leykis' salary is uninterrupted through March of 2012. He signed a no-cut contract with CBS when he last re-signed. This is common knowledge and has been disputed nowhere.

Atlthough not confirmed, his salary is estimate to be around $2.3 million a year. Basically he's getting paid about $7000 a day, every day of the year until Spring 2012. If I recall correctly, his house in L.A. is paid off and his ranch will be paid off within a year.

Doodie... when you get the facts wrong, people are a lot less inclined to give ear to anything else you might say.

Hate the guys guts if you want. But please... get the facts straight.
