Los Angeles Blog: LA Snark: What do you think of Manny? Tell us and win Dodgers OR Angels tickets!

  • Bentoboxx · 6 months ago
Ya Know, Manny is a Big Boy. He is a World Series MVP and a regular pick for the All-Star game. If anyone knows what can help or hurt a career, he does. He broke the rules and he got caught. Time for Manny to ManRam up and admit he did roids and he got caught. It also time for L.A. to get behind its team and support them instead of bringing them down like Manny did. I hope Manny apologized to them for what he did. I know L.A. is a very fickle town when it comes to sports. If our team is not winning we go on about our business. Now is the time the Dodgers need us the most. United. Supportive. C'mon L.A., show the Dodgers you are behind them!

I am honestly I am happy the focus will be taken off of him. As an avid Dodgers fan I have been very frustrated with how the focus is "Manny and the Dodger" instead of the whole team. The Dodgers lineup is stacked and even without him last night we had 9 runs. Hopefully after this suspention Frank McCord will sell the team as just the Dodgers.

After all the scandal with drug usage in baseball, he was not very smart. He took a chance and got caught. That's how it works with this. Despite this latest scandal, I love our team, and will continue supporting them! What's better than watching your home team play while drinking cold beer and a Dodger dog on a Sunday afternoon?

When Manny came to the Dodgers, I was excited (cuz he came from the Red Sox). He's done a lot for the team since he arrived. Hopefully, the suspension will give him some time to think about his actions and set a better example.

Manny gave the Dodgers and all us LA fans a shot of roids- I felt it when I was at Chavez Ravine and I felt it through the TV screen - when he came to the plate, I got an adrenaline rush... so I guess I was surprised, but not disappointed at the announcement. I will say that I was happy he didn't try to fight it and that the Dodger management handled the situation pretty professionally. The team will do well without him... but, I'm already jonesin' for a little Manny....

I was really bummed and kind of angry to hear about Manny. What the F was he thinking? I mean seriously. What the hell? GRRRRR!

    (go dodgers)

Someone needs to tell KABC 790 to take those Manny billboards and Bus ads down.. that's just awkward.
  • teberge · 6 months ago
On Flower Street in downtown are two huge Topps billboards w/photo and "Mannywood" slogan - another reminder to me every morning and afternoon...

Very dissappointed, after all we went through to finally get him then he goes and does this to us? We have given him all our support, he's deinitely helped out the team tremendously, but he should of known this would come out. I hope he is truly sorry to his team and to his fans. His very loyal fans.

Haha, I agree with Jon. Manny is with no doubt one of the greatest baseball players...hands down. I bet he sure upset alot of Red Sox fans. But Manny, he is just plain awesome...I think he made a great choice with the Dodgers.
  • Teresa · 6 months ago
Very disapointed. After all we went through to finally get him... no one wanted him and we needed him. He goes and does this. We've supported his arrival to the Dodgers tremendously and he has definitely helped out our team, but he should of known this would come out. I hope he is truly sorry to his team and to his fans.

I think doping and any other performance enhancing drugs should be legalized and their use promoted in professional sports. It makes the game that much more enjoyable to watch. I also see it opening up a brand new job market for scientists. On top of every personal trainer you would also have a personal scientist who would monitor your body and dope you appropriately. Imagine how much fun it would be to watch super mutants play pro sports. It would be a lot like the Disney movie Space Jam but instead of aliens it would be super mutants.

I was standing Cisco Burger in Long Beach ordering a breakfast burrito, when the news about Manny flashed across the store TV. The rest of the patrons and myself stared in shock for about a minute trying to comprehend the gravity of the situation: "Wait, Manny is suspended for like 50 games?!? Whoa...! That is HUGE. Why again? Oh, failed drug test... Wait... Why? Whoa, this is heavy..."

Then the second realization: "Hey, wait a second... I'm a GIANT'S fan! This is GREAT news! Best news I've heard all week. Go Manny Go!!!"

So suddenly there's me jumping up and down in celebration in the middle of restaurant, while everyone else is giving me dirty looks. That new and the burrito pretty much set up a pretty rad day. Thanks, Manny!

So, yeah, give ME those tickets, so I can go to the Dodgers game and taunt fans. And then I can get my ass kicked.

On second thought, maybe I'd better take the Angels tickets. ;)

I'd be more surprised if he were caught wearing ladies undergarments. Then we could call him Mannie the Tranny. But seriously, who is this Mannie? Is this a sports thing?
  • chris · 6 months ago
The drug was a fertility pill, correct? Seems to me like Manny just needed to get in touch with his feminine side. I think the league is so uppity about it because this may show evidence that girls can kick guys' ass in baseball. I beleive the proper nomenclature here is "pwn"... girls pwn in baseball.

To be fair to the boys, however, I do think that we should take punishment for using performance enhancers outside the arena of sports. Britney Spears lip syncs at her shows, shouldnt that be punishable? Perhaps they should suspend her from having concerts. I'm just saying...

BULLSHIT! ITs enough--we are in the steroids era--end of story-- however, MANUEL is a moron! Scott Boras - the devil- is even dumber--- BUT - this whole LETS TAKE DOWN L.A. is pretty ridiculoso-- letHIM play - but still fine him 8million skittles for the sake of his stupidity!

I won the Spa, so don't think I'll win this, but it's less about Manny and more about MLB's lax drug enforcement policy and the need to take down a big name and make an example of him. So, not a big baseball fan (I like orange, I want the Flip, I admit it, I'm a whore - I want it for the next gen of my blog, fine, I'm honest) but still think the Dodgers got screwed to make a point.

Let me just start off saying...Jesus Manny, are you an idiot? I mean, that's already quite established already with his out-there personality (and ego)...no offense to the big man, he still is pretty a mean baseball player. But anyway, of all the ways to get busted using steroids, this is how Manny takes the plunge? Sure, as any Los Angeleno, I was pretty disgruntled to hear about the "big news" because after seeing billboard after billboard of "He's Backkk" and even Manny hair wigs at my local convenience store, I took Manny's recent arrival as a pretty darn good thing. I'll even admit, I was really upset to hear that the blue already hit a pretty big snag so early in the season - even though it's pretty clear at this point that we're doing just fine without Mr. Ramirez. But when I heard about how Manny went down, I literally "laughed out loud."

"Manny Ramirez was reported failing a drug test because he was prescribed medication that happened to have certain levels of testosterone from an unauthorized doctor."

Hahaha, really? It's no secret that a large percentage of the MLB is all 'roided up, especially the power hitters like ManRam. But these medically enhanced allstars rarely even get caught, and when they do, it's much more badass. I don't even consider the news a bust, rather a minor "dilemma." I guess it is a blessing in disguise though because Manny isn't gone for good and we still have him for the more enjoyable portion of the baseball season. Ironically, I attended an Angels game the night of the big news and most of the fans were very cheerful that the "obnoxious Manny finally got what was coming for him." So at least the OC portion of LA County is happy about the 50 day catastrophic ban.

I'm looking forward to seeing Manny's return and if his ego/fanbase has crumbled even slightly. I think the Dodgers have been doing pretty excellent without Manny so this period definitely gives us all the opportunity to enjoy the rest of the team...not just its icon. We have a pretty solid lineup and hopefully, if Manny doesn't mess it up again, we should be looking at a pretty decent season. Let's go Doyyers!

Oh this baseball season would be even more enjoyable with me at one of the games...videotaping all the fun and excitement on a Flip Video Ultra F260 Orange 60-Minute Digital Camcorder...while enjoying a delicious orange shake courtesy of Carls Jr....while simultaneously keeping my brew cool with my branded cozy. And don't get me started on that bobblehead! Talk about fun at the ballpark!
(I had to throw my pitch in here somewhere, haha)

I've been a Pirates fan forever so the news about manny wasn't as heartbreaking as it is for everyone else. since I live in LA though, I really dig the dodgers, especially since the Pirates never win (still my favorite team) and the Dodgers can be good at times. I do have to say though, Dodger games are the best! There's nothing better than eating a Farmer John Dodger dog while listening to a mix of sounds between people booing because the ref called an out/someone took away the beach ball, whistling and screaming of drunk fans, and that same old announcer dude with the same old organ songs. I know the greatness of dodger baseball games has nothing to do with manny but everyone keeps telling me to "boycott Dodger games" because of Manny's drug trouble. thankfully I haven't had the time to go to a game, but now I'm hankering for some nosebleed seat action and I can't go to a dodger game! Lame....The Angels are too far away with too much traffic.

Thanks a lot Manny, asshole, I can't go to a baseball game now and everyone is laughing at Los Angeles because you messed up and couldn't keep your shit together. Everyone was making such a big deal that manny is on the team and then he leaves. And I'm tired of hearing questions like:
"So u guyz didn't rly break a record b/c manny was on roids?"

How am I supposed to know, I'm a pirates fan! I just want a farmer johns hot dog...

Who's manny...and why do I see him all over town?..lol
  • steve · 5 months ago
Manny is an idiot... but since he's a Dodger he's slightly less of an idiot in my eyes. Probably more of a tarnished idiot. I'm also happy the Dodgers have bounced back (after a couple of initial losses), so that it isn't in the news everyday about the "Mannyless Dodgers".

I think it's too bad that the drugs weren't for "off-the-field performance issues"... at least it would have been funnier.

    Go Doyers

Are u nuts. Davids belief is insane. Though it sound like a ton of fun, what kind of example would that give to our youth. Manny I still believe was taking Viagra andus embarrased.
